During the Covid pandemic students are allowed to register hours for volunteering for their immediate and extended family or neighbourhood. Activities like lawn mowing, baby sitting, stacking firewood, assisting in a sports league or community class like dance or working in the family business can be counted toward their grad requirement. The goal is for students to gain skills, contribute in a positive manner and build experiences for their resumes.
Calling all Pet Parents! Do you and your pet love going out and meeting new people? Are they Calm* and Friendly*? If so, you and your fur baby could be the perfect fit for our In-home pet visits. A lot of our local senior’s do not have the means to own and/or take care of a pet. In-home pet visits are where you, take your pet, to them, giving our local seniors an opportunity to love and be loved by local pets. What a great idea!
A friendly smile can go a long way; home visits help seniors feel more connected with their communities as well as helping with social skills. As a volunteer, you would be helping by visiting seniors in their home. Activities include but are not limited to; having a cup of tea/coffee (in home or at coffee house) or helping with computer skills or watching T.V. or playing a game, going for a walk with them, (their pet may join if you are comfortable with that) This position is flexible in both time (am or pm) and location.
