A group of Juan de Fuca residents has formed a non-profit society to launch a news and advertising publication for the Juan de Fuca Electoral Area to provide a forum for our rural communities to share news, exchange ideas and develop a sense of community. The publication will give businesses within and outside the electoral area an opportunity to promote their products and services and reach potential customers. We hope to provide current information about the region and its services for the many tourists who visit the area. Our goal is to protect, preserve and enhance rural life.
To provide information to park visitors about keeping themselves and their possessions safe while they are visiting our beautiful parks and to provide tourist information about local businesses and attractions.
As Juan de Fuca regional residents we share this in common:
We are gravely troubled by the staggering rate and volume of deforestation in our region. We believe that our forests are being grossly mismanaged, and that these lands which should represent our commons have been unjustly expropriated in the name of fast profit for industry shareholders, at the expense of ecological sustainability and what is literally the birthright ground for future generations.
Our vision is two-fold:
Sooke Youth Show Choir was established in 2013 in order to provide youth aged 4 and up with the opportunity to develop their natural creative abilities and promote self-confidence by teaching them the foundations of choral singing, dancing and acting. Our mandate is to encourage participation and excellence in the arts, culture and heritage for local youth from all religious, cultural and economic backgrounds as well as all levels of physical and cognitive abilities.
We are a family oriented club promoting and teaching the art of Shotokan Karate as well as street defence.
Our primary goal is to develop self-confidence and discipline, while teaching self defence techniques that will enable our students to protect themselves in dangerous situations and to deal with life's more unpleasant moments. Along with the student's physical fitness and mastering of techniques, there should also be mental and emotional growth and development. We do not promote aggressive behaviour, and such conduct is not tolerated.
