The EMCS Program Office, overseen by the EMCS Society and Sooke School District #62, was established in 1987 when Edward Milne Secondary School became a community school. Since that time, the staff have worked to provide education opportunities for people of all ages in the Sooke Region. We continue to grow and change with the needs of the community, and we hope that you will find programs and services that are both useful and timely.

Sooke Harbour lies at the foot of Maple Avenue and is situated on the south end of Vancouver Island 24 km from Victoria. The facility consists of a Wharf and an approach leading to a system of floats.
Scouting makes a difference in the lives of children, youth and young adults. Providing opportunities for youth to grow, achieve new "firsts" and develop into citizens of the world.
Scouts are more likely to demonstrate greater self-confidence and optimism about what the future holds. They express a strong sense of civic responsibility and have a desire to “pay back” the community. They become more physically fit, energetic, outgoing, conscientious and compassionate. And they have a lot of fun!
Sooke and Electoral Area Parks and Recreation Commission (SEAPARC) creates recreational opportunities for the public through development, provision and operation of recreation facilities, programs and activities. SEAPARC is a partnership of the District of Sooke and western communities in the Juan de Fuca Electoral Area (Port Renfrew, Otter Point, Shirley, Jordan River and East Sooke). The commission serves the residents of these areas.
The Shirley Community Association was established in 1934 and the Shirley Hall was constructed in 1937 on donated land on the corner of what is now West Coast Rd and Sheringham Point Rd. The Association carries on multiple functions.
