The Juan de Fuca Salmon Restoration Society was formed as a result of a symposium on salmon organized by the Sooke Region Historical Society in September 2002 which was held at Edward Milne Community School. Many presenters from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds of experience made contributions to the two-day program, titled SALMON: PAST–PRESENT-FUTURE.

Through the centuries, nature has shaped the people and the history of the southwest coast of Vancouver Island. Presentation of this fascinating story, where the rainforest meets the sea, is the mission of the Sooke Region Museum.

It is a people's history, set in a land where a rainforest of infinite majesty matches the awesome grandeur of the Pacific Ocean breaking upon the western shore.

Scouting makes a difference in the lives of children, youth and young adults. Providing opportunities for youth to grow, achieve new "firsts" and develop into citizens of the world.

Scouts are more likely to demonstrate greater self-confidence and optimism about what the future holds. They express a strong sense of civic responsibility and have a desire to “pay back” the community. They become more physically fit, energetic, outgoing, conscientious and compassionate. And they have a lot of fun!

Scouts is the start of something great.
