The Juan de Fuca Salmon Restoration Society was formed as a result of a symposium on salmon organized by the Sooke Region Historical Society in September 2002 which was held at Edward Milne Community School. Many presenters from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds of experience made contributions to the two-day program, titled SALMON: PAST–PRESENT-FUTURE.

A group of Juan de Fuca residents has formed a non-profit society to launch a news and advertising publication for the Juan de Fuca Electoral Area to provide a forum for our rural communities to share news, exchange ideas and develop a sense of community. The publication will give businesses within and outside the electoral area an opportunity to promote their products and services and reach potential customers. We hope to provide current information about the region and its services for the many tourists who visit the area. Our goal is to protect, preserve and enhance rural life.
