About Us and our current programs
Sooke Region Volunteer Centre helps connect people with volunteer opportunities in the Sooke Region. We believe that volunteering is a pillar in everyone's life. Our mission is to inspire people to volunteer. Our office is also a home of Sooke Region Better at Home Program. We provide a range of non-medical services in the Sooke Region. Services provided by us include:
- Companion (virtual visits )
- Hot meals delivery (during the pandemic time)
- Light housekeeping
- Minor home repairs
- Light yard work
- Grocery shopping
Those services are for older adults 65+ who would like to continue to play an active part in our communities, but they need some support to maintain their independence and stay connected with our community. For more information please visit the website below.
We also offer a Community Free Tax available for those of you who did not have a chance to do it yet. Please bring all your tax slips and ID and we will be happy to file your taxes. This is the drop-off.
This FREE Income Tax Program is available to individuals, youth, seniors and persons with disabilities with a SIMPLE tax situation and a MODEST income, as shown:
Family Size Total Family Income
One person: $35,000
Two persons: $45,000
Three persons: $47,500
Four persons: $50,000
Five persons: $52,500
More than five persons: $52,500 PLUS $2,500 for each additional person
You are NOT eligible for this FREE program if you:
—have employment expenses, business or rental income or expenses, capital gains or losses
—have filed for bankruptcy; or,
—are completing a tax return for a deceased person.
Our office is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 1.00-3.00PM so please come and we will be happy to help you. If you have any questions please give us a call: 778-365-1878

Interesting Volunteer Opportunities and Community Events
- Sooke Fall Fair
Sooke Fall Fair is in transition as we move through the changes due to health concerns and safety. We will appreciate your help in volunteering to help us through a new and exciting way to carry through our fair. We appreciate your ingenuity and creativity your social and computer skills to help us to create an exciting new way to enjoy our fair.
Currently, they are looking for Vice-President and Directors, who will be responsible under the society act.
We also have some amazing volunteer opportunities for section head, for our animal, photography and flower sections

- Sooke Shelter Society
Sooke Shelter Society needs volunteers that can work two or more hours a week with their most vulnerable and unhoused population. People with mental health and addiction disorders.
