Our mission is to inspire people to volunteer. Please contact us and become a volunteer! Check our Facebook Page at Sooke Region Volunteers or our website. We have a list of organizations looking for volunteers. Drop by our office, we would love to know what you would like to do as a volunteer, what skills you have and what your background is. We can refer you to a compatible organization in our region. It is easy and time-efficient. You can volunteer once, only during summertime or all year round. Currently, we offer “Safe Seniors, Strong Communities” program that matches people who want to help seniors get the groceries and medications they need and stay socially connected through virtual visits with seniors in our local community. This program is funded by the government in partnership with bc211 and the Better at Home Program. Our local seniors get grocery shopping or check-in weekly to be sure they have support during this time of isolation. This program is more than just regular shopping. It is also an amazing opportunity to start a friendship. A dedicated volunteer is matched with a senior so they can learn more about each other and make a closer connection in this difficult time. We are still looking for seniors and volunteers to participate. If you would like to learn more about this program please give us a call at 250-642-6364 ext. 235 and we will call you back as soon as possible
