About Us

Sooke Region Volunteer Center helps connect People with volunteer opportunities in the Sooke Region. We believe that volunteering is a pillar in everyone's life. Our mission is to inspire to volunteer. Please contact us and become a volunteer! Please check our Facebook Page at Sooke Region Volunteers or our website. We have a list of organizations looking for volunteers. Drop by our office we would love to know what you would like to do as a volunteer, what skills you have and what your background is.  We can refer you to a compatible organization in our region. It is easy and time efficient. You can volunteer once, only during summer time or all year round. You decide how much time you can dedicate.  Please do not wait. Give us a call. Interesting Volunteer Opportunities in June:

Sooke Shelter

Sooke Shelter is looking for volunteers various positions are available:

Awareness Events - Participation includes upcoming events for Canada Day and The Sooke Music Festival. Setting with a canopy tent and duties are to provide awareness to the Community about Sooke Shelter's Purpose/Vision/Fundraising. Minimum/ Max 4 hour shift

Fundraising Events - Bottle Drives, Car Washes, Other Fundraising Events, Marketing, Setting up and Organizing will be required. Minimum/Max 4-hour shift

Outreach Volunteer - Reaching out and connecting with those experiencing homeless. Evaluating their needs by engaging, explanation and craftily of expectation. This position requires 2 people working together once a week.

Donation volunteer - This position requires pick up of item donations, storing items in storage, keeping an accurate inventory record, updating inventory documentation. This is on-call daytime position

Extreme Weather Response Program - Emergency Shelter Months are November 1, 2018- March 31, 2019. Drivers, Outreach, Food Preparation, Daytime and Graveyard Shift positions.

Cancer DriveLine 

A non-profit organization that drives cancer patients to medical appointments is looking for volunteers in Sooke.

The group operates solely off donations and volunteerism, and has helped more than 890 people so far.

They are looking to have around six drivers in Sooke, who are available at least one day a week to drive a patient. Drivers are required to use their own vehicles, but will get refunded for gas.

To become a driver, you must be a non-smoker or have a clean smelling vehicle, a clean driving record, a minimum of $ 3 million in third party liability car insurance and a criminal record check.

Sooke Region Volunteer Center is looking for Volunteers for the office​

We are currently looking for some volunteers who will be interested in supporting us in the office. If you like clerical work, want to handle inquires and provide information, are eager to maintain our database or schedule appointments we would love to hear from you. It would be great if you have some office experience, but we do not mind training you. Work hours are flexible. It will be just one day a week. It is a very friendly office environment. Sooke Loan Cupboard

Sooke Loan Cupboard requires one or two reliable individuals that can assist Monday mornings between approx 10:45 - 11:45 with cleaning equipment loaned through their program. Even if you can commit once or twice a month would be great.

Victoria Literacy Connection

Victoria Literacy Connection for Sooke Region is looking for tutuors and learners. This is a free tutoring for youth, children and adults.

Sooke Region Museum

Our Museum is looking for volunteers to help during school tours . Two or four hour shifts are available. You will be guiding school age children. For more information please contact the museum at 250-642-6351

Sooke Fall Fair

Sooke Fall Fair is looking for a secretary. This person would take minutes at monthly meetings and send them out and also send out agendas and thank you notes. It is a great opportunity to get some admin experience. Please contact Ellen Leweres for more details. Her phone number is: 250-812-2830

Sooke Yoga & Wellness Center
Do you want to join some yoga classes for free? Yes, it is possible if you decide to dedicate your time and volunteer there. Please contact Alanda for more details. Her phone number is 250-642-9642.

Meals on Wheels

Help feed people in need by getting involved with Meals on Wheels.

Meals on Wheels is a program in Sooke that provides people in need with nutritious, affordable meals. A small group of locals get together every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at the Sooke Community Hall and prepare fresh meals to be sent out

Right now, Meals on Wheels is struggling to find enough volunteer drivers to help deliver the food. Their phone number is 250-6647222
