The Sooke Bike Club is dedicated to building a friendly and organized local mountain bike community in Sooke. We do this by supporting and encouraging riders of all ages and abilities through fun events, mentorship and volunteer opportunities. The Sooke Bike Club assists land managers and owners in their efforts to include bike trail systems on their lands, and promotes Sooke's trails and opportunities to the global mountain biking community.
The Y Outdoor Centre, home of Camp Thunderbird, is nestled in the Sooke Foothills and has provided outdoor experiences for children and youth since 1935. Our mission is to work together to enhance individual and community potential through participation, learning and leadership. Kids of all ages have fun and develop skills.
Residential Camp Thunderbird is a natural playground with 1200 acres of forest, dramatic vistas and the clear, clean waters of Glinz Lake. Thunderbird programs are active, dynamic, challenging and creative.
The Sooke Garden Club was established in 1971 as a means for residents of the Sooke Region to come together to share experiences, learn from experts, and enjoy the camaraderie and benefits to be derived from a common interest in gardening and horticulture. In turn, the Club contributes to the community through monetary donations, gardening-related volunteer work/support, and committee participation.
What we do... a) promote and facilitate sailing education across all age ranges b) promote water safety and seamanship in the Sooke area c) promote the physical, sport and social aspects of sailing and share a common interest and knowledge base. Currently we are hosting a sailing school for kids in July in Sooke for kids 6 to 14 years old. There will be three one week classes in July.
